Springtime Reminds Us of New Life

I like all the seasons. They all seem to serve a purpose, but I will admit that by the time that February is almost over, I — like many — start to feel the “winter blues”.  It’s nice to know that spring is so close by that time, and guess what? It’s here! Happy Springtime to you!

This is a wonderful month as we watch new life spring up from the ground with beautiful daffodils, wonderfully scented hyacinth, and a variety of other spring flowers. And the magnolia trees that will soon be blooming — oh, I LOVE it!

It’s also so amazing to walk around and look closely at tree branches that looked plain and bare all winter, but are now unfurling that beautiful spring green through the tender, tiny leaves and buds that are rapidly developing.

I hope you can take some time to get out, take a walk and really enjoy all of this, because spring is like a child growing up — if you blink, you’ll miss it! This season of spring always feels too short to me!

It is very appropriate that in this season we celebrate the greatest life gift ever: Life through Jesus. In this month, we have a special holiday to celebrate that He died for our sins (for those who trust in Him), was buried in a tomb — but three days later, was risen from the dead — never to die again! He broke the power of sin and death for all who trust in and follow Him! Praise God!

So many people want to find the “Fountain of Youth” in a sense, but they can’t, because, as it says in Romans 3:23, “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” and in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death…”. Yet, Jesus, being perfect, couldn’t be held by death. He arose from the dead, and He will never die again. He doesn’t grow old either. In Him, there is Eternal Life and He offers that Life to us if we turn to Him, believing and trusting in Him as our Savior (trusting that in Him that we have forgiveness for our sins through Him), and following Him as our Lord. Wow. So great! Thank You, Father God, for sending your Son!

“But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, but it is the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in God’s merciful restraint He let the sins previously committed go unpunished; for the demonstration, that is, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” Romans 3:21-26
